In her career spanning over almost 30 years, Kanu Priya has played and mastered many roles. 

After completing her M.Sc. Mathematics from Jamilia Milia University,

Kanu Priya entered the field of media in 1992, with no experience or connections in the industry, only a dream, and determination.

She soon joined Doordarshan as an anchorperson and simultaneously started getting offered acting roles. She went on to act in over 80 serials and 50 telefilms mostly in the lead role, including Bhanwar, Kahi Aek Gaon, Meri Kahani, Kartavya, Tesu Ke Phool, Tumhara Intezar Hai, Anaro, Ranjishen, Ab Aur Nahi, Sur Sargam, and many more.

Recognizing the power of voice, she also started her journey as a Radio Jockey and was a part of Aakashwani for over a decade. She also explored the stage life and acted in numerous plays including Rangbhoomi, Afwa, Chandu Ki Chachi, and many more, both in India & Internationally.

At the same time, her excellent communication skills and a desire to create took her towards script-writing and direction.

​

In 2005, after working as a freelance actor, anchorperson, radio-jockey, voice-over artist, script-writer, theatre artist, she created her media company Gul Guncha Art which primarily worked on creating issue-based documentaries, shows, and ad films.

​

She then moved on to hosting Subha Savere – The morning show, followed by the Internationally acclaimed spiritual series Awakening with Brahma Kumaris, the mental health series Mann Ki Baat, and more. She counts these years between 2007 to 2011 as the beginning of her spiritual education, providing more insight and depth in her future projects.

​

In 2011, she revived Gul Guncha Arts and produced, directed & hosted talk shows and semi-fiction series ITZz My Life (on NDTV Imagine), Call Mitra - The Helpline Show (on News24), New Age Parenting (on Headlines Today) & Simply Pure Bites (on Sadhna Channel).

​

Since 2015, she ventured back into fiction, Writing, Directing and Producing shows like Karmbhoomi Youth Series (Bindass Channel & MX Player), The Desi Kardashians (+25 lakh views on YouTube), and Ardhsatya - Jeevan Ke Rahasya (for the OTT platform Watcho).

​

With a deep desire to give back and provide the guidance, she wishes she had received, she launched Actor Unveiled, a Theatre Group and Acting Academy which is open to all age groups and working professionals. Her performance-based approach and unique style of teaching lead to many successful performances in Russian Culture Centre for Science & Culture, Alliance Francaise, Canvas Laugh Club Noida – Gurugram, and Max Towers. During this time also scripted contemporary plays like Intimate Liaisons, On The Astral Plane, Chitragupta Ki Sabha – The Ramayan Edition & more.

With a heightened sense of empathy and a deep understanding of human emotions and relations, she also provides counseling and life coaching sessions for people of all age groups.

​

Since 2020, she’s also ventured into film distribution and was the official digital distributor for the Award-Winning Marathi film ‘Masuta’ for MX Player.

​
